A Little Girl Named Olga...

This precious little girl is Olga. She has cerebral palsy, and she is about to turn 4 in December. She lives in an orphanage in Eastern Europe. Children with her condition at this age in her location are transferred to a mental institution, and she is just days away from this being her life sentence! For over a year, individuals have been advocating for this little one, but tonight she still lies in her orphanage waiting for a family to step forward, to answer the call, to choose HER!

An advocate forwarded this plea to us tonight. It was the same advocate that God used to connect us with our little S. Four months ago when we received an urgent e-mail cry just like this one, the Holy Spirit lifted us off of our feet to walk down a path that we had never considered. One we couldn't imagine. One we are daily walking down and still don't know the way. One that the Lord is using to grow our faith and change our hearts. The Lord is opening our eyes and breaking our hearts for the plight of so many little ones just like S and Olga who desperately need a home and a family.

Every night when I rock my baby boy and feed him his bottle, we sing the little song that I sang as a little girl - "He's got the whole world in His Hands." It goes like this... "He's got Hank and Barrett in His hands...He's got Web and Palmer in His hands...He's got little S in His hands... and we go on and on until we get through every member of our family. We always end with singing about all the little ones who are orphaned and abandoned all around the world. Tonight I sing for this little girl. I know the Lord has Olga in His hands, and I know He has her family in His hands too. My heart is crying out for her and that the Lord will raise up a family to save her from a life confined to a mental institution.

You can see her profile on Reece's Rainbow
or you can go to

Thus says God the Lord,
who created the heavens and stretched them out,
who spread out the earth and its offspring,
who gives breath to the people on it,
and spirit to those who walk in it,
"I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness,
I will appoint you as a covenant to the people,
as a light to the nations,
to open blind eyes,
to bring out prisoners from the dungeon,
and those who dwell in darkness from the prison...

I will lead the blind by a way they do not know,
in paths they do not know I will guide them.
I will make darkness into light before them
and rugged places into plains.
These are the things I will do,
and I will not leave them undone."
Isaiah 42:5-7,16

I am believing in faith tonight that the Lord will raise up a family for Olga. I believe nothing is impossible for our God! I believe He can make a way where there seems to be no way. I believe He can open our blind eyes to the plight of these little ones, His little ones. I believe He can bring Olga out of her dungeon and out of her darkness. I am praying He will lead the blind in a way that they do not know. He alone can make a way. Please join me in praying...

...Oh make our little lives count
for the glory of Your name
and for the fame of Your Father.
Rivet our attention on Your cross,
and fuse our affections to Yourself.
Waken our compassion for all who suffer...
So open our mouths and open our hands
and open our wallets while we have breath,
and make us the most radically loving people
on earth, for the joy of all peoples
and the renown of Your name.
Amen John Piper, Life as a Vapor

This is not for the faint of heart. Imagine this being the sentence of a precious little one.
How the heart of God must weep...
