The Next Thing

When the Spirit of God comes He does not give us visions, He tells us to do the most ordinary thing conceivable.
Depression is apt to turn us away from the ordinary commonplace things of God's creation, but whenever God comes,
the inspiration is to do the most natural simple things - the things we would never have imagined God was in,
and as we do them we find He is there. The inspiration which comes to us in this way is an initiative against depression;
we have to do the next thing and do it in the inspiration of God...
Oswald Chambers

Here's a little update... This morning we received word that all of S's documents were finally submitted to the Bulgarian government yesterday. This was good news, and we are very thankful to have this step complete! Now we must wait for our attorney to receive word of the next meeting when verbal referrals are given out. Apparently, there are a lot of unknowns right now about how long this will take. Usually it is a very quick process, and we are praying that this will continue to be the case! We're also praying that the written approval that is needed for our actual travel dates will come SOON! Thank you so much for joining us in prayer! We are so ready for the next thing to be buying airline tickets and a trip to finally meet our little S!!!

In the meantime, we are trying to get back into the swing of things with homeschool! Here's a glimpse of us following Oswald Chamber's direction and doing the next thing, despite how we all felt about it! I love this picture of Web and Barrett because it is exactly what our mornings are looking like these days. The middle two boys are missing because I'm pretty sure they both were making trips to the "principal's office!" Thankfully, the principal was home this morning, so that the "assistant principal" could defer the discipline to him and continue on with our reading practice!

Doing the next thing, one thing at a time...

Thank You, Lord, for your continued faithfulness to meet us in these ordinary and common places of our lives.
Thank You for Your constant inspiration and supernatural strength to do the next thing
Bless these little boys as they learn and grow and anticipate all the changes that this new year will bring to our family!

Trust in the Lord, and do good;
dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness...
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him...
