Happy Happenings

Here's a quick recap of what we've been up to around here! We've enjoyed the slower pace of life that summer brings, while also trying to provide enough structure to keep 4 little boys from getting too bored. Here's what happens on a daily basis when we run out of things to do...

Most days I feel like I need my black and white striped shirt on and my referee's whistle to break up the constant wrestling matches between these guys! The level of energy that these 4 possess is unbelievable, but I am so glad that they always have someone to play (and wrestle) with! To their credit, they are such good brothers to Barrett and don't mind letting him tag along! They are great helpers, and while it's easy for me to focus on all of the things that need correcting in their behavior, I know that the Lord is working in their little hearts!

Sometimes I do feel like a broken record as I talk to them (and, even more, to myself) about patience and self-control, but I love these crazy guys more than words could ever express. I love their passionate, determined, stubborn, strong-willed, and WILD personalties, and I know the Lord has something special for each one of them! They are as different as night and day, but there are a few things (other than wrestling) which they all love to do, and we've been doing them a bunch this summer!

They have spent lots of time at the pool and have turned into great swimmers! I'm thankful for their MiMi and Pops for taking them swimming! It's given me a chance to love on this little girl and get some projects done around the house as we get ready to bring S home!

Sometimes just the big boys go to the pool or to the golf course without this little man. He is normally crushed that he gets "left out" because I think he totally sees himself as one of the boys! He loves hanging out with his little sister, and I've loved my time with just the littles! :)

We've got a chair waiting on you, S, and I think you and Barrett are going to be big buddies! I can't wait to have the empty seat in my stroller filled up too! You'll get to join Barrett and Evie as my running buddies!

Speaking of running, I think my days of long, solitary runs listening to my IPod are gone. My runs these days involve pushing this monstrosity, sprinting after the trash truck (or any truck for that matter), looking for dogs and cats, stopping to throw rocks in the creek, and lots of sticking the pappy back in little girl's mouth without breaking stride! While I miss running by myself, I wouldn't trade my "stroller-full" for anything! I love my running buddies and our early morning jogs!

Since the fish haven't been biting much this summer, the boys have taken up a new hobby! If you walk through our yard, you are sure to see golf clubs and plastic golf balls scattered everywhere! Occasionally, a real golf ball gets thrown in the mix, and I'm just waiting on the first window to get broken!

Even more than backyard golf, the boys love going to the golf course with Will! I am so thankful for this man and wouldn't want to be on this adventure with anyone but him!

July ended with the big boys going on a short overnight trip to Mobile to visit their grandparents! They had a blast going to the battleship and to an alligator farm! Thanks GrandDan and MeMa for a great trip!

I told Will when I saw this picture of the boys in the bunk bed that this is exactly what we need at our house! I wonder where you can buy them! :)

Well, if you've stuck with me this far through this post, then you're about to find out exciting news!
We fly out tomorrow to go get this little girl!

It's finally time to bring S home!

Your Daddy and I are coming to get you, little girl! You have no clue what is coming. You have no idea that this is the last Thursday you will ever spend at that orphanage again! Your pink butterfly room is all ready, and your closet is full of sweet little girlie dresses and hairbows! :) Your brothers and sister can't wait to meet you! We've held you in our hearts all these months and days, and now, in just 5 short days, we will hold you in our arms! We can't wait!!!

Hopefully, we will be able to post pictures, updates, and specific ways you can pray as we spend this next week in Bulgaria! In the meantime, will you pray for us tomorrow as we travel, as we drive to S's city on Sunday, and as we pick up our precious little daughter early Monday morning!  Will you also pray for our little ones that we will be leaving behind? I get a lump in my throat just thinking about being away for an entire week! They will be in fabulous hands with their Mimi and Pops, and, ultimately, I know they are held in our Father's hands! Still though, this momma's heart feels like it's being torn in two! Will you pray for me?

Be still my heart...

Behold, God is my helper;
the Lord is the sustainer of my soul.
Psalm 54:4
