Counting Mercies: #49 - Weekends

49. WEEKENDS - The weekends don't look quite the same as they used to, but we definitely still look forward to them around here! I, especially, LOVE having an extra set of hands, and the kids LOVE hanging out with their Daddy! We've introduced Sophi to Cache Lake Farm, my grandparent's land and fishing lakes about 15 minutes outside of town. The past few Sunday afternoons the boys have fished and shot their guns and bows, and Sophi has...well, she's eaten some snacks and enjoyed some rides in the back of the truck! :) Other than that, I think the wide-open space is a little much for her to take in! Normally, she wants to get back in the van as soon as we get out, but one day she will learn that this big and beautiful place is a good thing! Until then, we will thank God for the blessing it is to us...for the fresh air...for the sunshine...for a place the boys can run wild and free...for a place to get out and get away...for rest and renewal that can come even in the midst of craziness and exhaustion! Speaking of getting out, we've taken Sophi to church the past 2 weeks, and, even though, she can only make it about 15 minutes before getting fidgety, this has been another mercy!

The pictures show lots of smiling faces, and, yes, we have lots of peaceful, happy moments. But, there are lots and lots and lots of the opposite...Please continue to pray for us as I feel like we are in the middle of some major spiritual warfare! I'll try to do a post that gives a little more detail and some specific ways that you can pray for Sophi! Thank you again for faithfully lifting our family up in prayer! In the meantime, we will look forward to another weekend and hope you have a happy one too!

Merciful Father...
Give us unshakeable hope.
Remind us that suffering may last for the night,
but joy comes in the morning.
Make us feel that this slight momentary affliction, this vapor,
is working for us an eternal weight of glory.
In Jesus' name,
Amen

XOXO,
Melanie

  1. Melanie, I heard my own life in your description of the warfare going on behind the smiling faces. Our little man has been home for 7 months now, and though he is (praise the Lord!) a happy little guy most of the time, the moments that are hard are *so* hard. I will lift your family and sweet Sophi up in prayer! God bless! theyoungpages.com/jodis_blog/
