Counting Mercies: #53 - Sabbath Rest

It is good to give thanks to the Lord
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning
                                                  and Your faithfulness by night...
For You, O Lord, have made me glad by what You have done,
I will sing for joy at the works of Your hands...
How great are Your works, O Lord!

Psalm 92:1-5

My windows are open today, and I can hear the laughter and shouts of my big boys playing in the yard with friends! The little ones are napping, and Will is outside working! My house is quiet and so is my heart! This is what I needed, and the Lord perfectly knew that a day of rest would be a welcome mercy for my weary heart. It comes on the tail end of a week consumed with confusion, doubts, and lots of questions! The past few days have been hard (rough nights, battles over food, temper tantrums), and I have found myself second-guessing everything that I've been doing, wondering if we're making any progress at all...

Our expressions tell the whole story! I'm laughing at Will trying
take the classic Sunday morning picture before church!
Sophi is sobbing because she thinks she's not getting
to go, and Evie is on the verge of a meltdown because of
Sophi's LOUD screams!

But today has been good - not because we haven't had our moments (we have!!!) - but because the Lord has helped us to laugh and catch our breaths and rest on this Sabbath Sunday! That week is behind us, and today we start over! I am so thankful for a merciful Father who gives us beautiful days and restful hearts and fresh starts!

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]

Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.

For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good—not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne."

Matthew 11:28-30
Amplified Bible

Hope you had a happy Sabbath and found rest in His mercy, too! :)
